19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He saved four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
